What it does
Tom's Link Authority lets you check domain authority, analyse backlinks, and find link building opportunities — entirely offline. The app ships with free authority data for up to 25 million domains. Purchase any backlink shard and you'll receive the full 120 million domain Master Ranks database as a bonus, plus access to Common Crawl's 4.4 billion link connections for backlink and link gap analysis.
Getting started
1. Download the app — it's a single portable exe, no installation needed. Extract the zip and run TLA.exe.
2. Download a rank database — on first launch, click the gear icon (top right) and choose "Download Database." Select a tier from 1 million to 25 million domains and the app will download and load it automatically. The database list may take up to 30 seconds to appear while it contacts the server.
3. Start looking up domains — the Lookup, Compare, and Batch tabs work immediately with the free rank database. No license key needed.
4. Want backlink data? — purchase the shards you need for the domains you want to analyse. Enter your license key in Settings → License and the Backlinks and Link Gap tabs will unlock.

Built on Common Crawl
The authority scores and backlink data come from Common Crawl's web graph — the same open dataset used by researchers and search engines. Common Crawl processes billions of web pages quarterly, producing a comprehensive map of how domains link to each other. TLA uses the Harmonic Centrality (HC) rank from this graph, which is harder to game than traditional Domain Rating metrics because it considers the full link structure, not just direct links.

Technical details

Size: ~2 MB portable exe — no installer, no dependencies, no .NET required
Data: SQLite databases in a local data/ folder. Free ranks DBs from 1M to 25M domains. Full 120M Master Ranks DB included free with any shard purchase. Paid edge shards ~9–12 GB each (1–6 GB zipped download).
Privacy: No telemetry, no tracking, no account creation. The app never phones home except for an optional license activation check.
