The database itself is free. 165.4 million domains and 4.85 billion backlinks, as one downloadable file, open to everyone — no licence needed to download it or to keep it. The licence unlocks the two analysis tabs inside the app.

Licence keys are issued by hand, usually within a few hours and always within 24. You will get an email with your key and expiry date.

Common questions

Is this a subscription?

No. There is no automatic billing and nothing stored to charge again. You pay once for 12 months. When it runs out, Backlinks and Link Gap lock and you decide whether to renew. The app and the database stay on your disk either way.

Why is the database free if the app is paid?

Because the data comes from Common Crawl, which is public and free to anyone. What you are paying for is the processing — turning billions of raw web-graph edges into something a desktop app can query instantly, and the app that does the querying. Gating the download would add friction without protecting anything.

How big is the download?

About 21.6 GB to download and about 90.3 GB once unpacked, so you will want about 112 GB of free disk space while it installs. The app downloads and unpacks it for you, and the download resumes where it left off if it is interrupted, even after a restart. An external SSD works fine: you can set a custom data folder in Settings.

Do I get new data during my licence?

Yes. Every release published during your 12 months is included. A new release comes out about every three months, built from Common Crawl's latest web graph, and the app offers it to you as a fresh download.

How does the licence key work?

Open Settings (gear icon), click License..., paste your key and click Activate. The app checks it online once, binds it to that machine, and stores the activation locally. After that it works offline — it only contacts the server again when you open the License window (to look for a renewal) or when your expiry date passes.

Can I use my key on more than one computer?

Each key activates on one machine. If you move to a different computer, or reinstall Windows and the machine fingerprint changes, reply to your order email and I will reset the key so it can be activated again.

What happens when my licence expires?

Backlinks and Link Gap lock. Everything else — Lookup, Compare, Batch, your saved settings, the database you downloaded — carries on working. Renew and the same key unlocks them again; there is no new key to enter.

How do I renew?

In the app, open Settings → License... and click Buy a licence — with a key already entered it brings you to the renewal page. Or use this page's renewal option. Your existing key is extended rather than replaced, so nothing needs re-entering.
